These are Unicode symbols that look like fonts, not real fonts. Screen readers may read them one symbol at a time or skip them, so avoid them for anything important. Some apps, forms and games strip or replace them. Letters that a style has no version of stay plain.

Convert back to normal text

Paste text written in any of these styles. Letters and digits become plain Aโ€“Z and 0โ€“9. Frames and decorative symbols you added stay as they are.

Everything runs in your browser. What you type is not uploaded or saved. These styles are Unicode symbols, so how they look depends on the device and app you paste into.

How to use the font changer

Type or paste your text in the box. Every card shows it in one style. Copy puts that card on your clipboard, ready to paste anywhere that accepts text.

  • Optional frames wrap each line in matching symbols, such as hearts or sparkles.
  • Strikethrough and underline add a line to every letter, so they work on any text.
  • Capital and small letters are both converted. Numbers are converted only in styles that have digits.
  • The box at the bottom turns styled text back into plain letters.

Why a font changer is not a real font

A font is a file that your device uses to draw ordinary letters. These styles are different: each letter is replaced by another Unicode character, such as the mathematical bold ๐€ instead of the normal A. Most of them come from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, plus circled and parenthesized letters from Enclosed Alphanumerics and wide letters from the fullwidth forms.

Because the characters travel with your text, you can paste them where you cannot install a font. The price is that each device and app draws them with whatever font it has, and the letters are no longer ordinary letters.

When to avoid styled text

Screen readers may read these characters one at a time, say their long Unicode names or skip them, so do not use them for anything someone must understand, such as contact details, instructions or a name on a form. Search will not match them to normal words, and some apps and games strip them or show empty boxes. If a style has no version of a letter, that letter stays plain.

Which style should you pick?

For emphasis in a caption, bold or sans bold is the most readable. Script and bold script look like handwriting and suit short names and titles. Gothic reads as dark and dramatic. Bubble, squared and fullwidth are playful but slow to read in long text, so keep them to a word or a line.

Which letters have no version?

Black circled and squared styles have capital letters only, so small letters turn into capitals. Parenthesized letters are small only. Italic, script, gothic and sans italic have no digits. Tiny superscript text has no common q, subscript covers only some letters, and small caps has no x. Those characters simply stay plain.

The studio notebook

A useful place to begin.

Clear steps, considered details, and ideas you can put to use.

A few helpful answers

Before you begin.

Are these real fonts?

No. They are Unicode characters that look like fonts. Each letter is swapped for a different character, so you can paste them where you cannot install a font.

Where can I paste copy-and-paste fonts?

Most social bios, captions, chats and notes show them, but support varies. Some apps, forms and games strip or replace the characters, so test first.

Can screen readers read them?

Often poorly. They may read the characters one at a time, say long Unicode names or skip them. Avoid styled text for anything important.

Why do some letters stay plain?

Some styles have no version of every letter or digit. Black circled and squared letters are capital only, italic and script have no digits, and tiny text misses a few letters, such as superscript q.

Can I turn fancy text back into normal text?

Yes. Paste it into the box at the bottom of any page and the letters and digits return to plain Aโ€“Z and 0โ€“9. Upside-down text cannot be reversed this way.

Why does it look different on another phone?

The characters are drawn by the system fonts of each device, so shapes and spacing differ, and a missing glyph can appear as a box.

Will styled text be found by search?

No. Search treats a styled letter as a different character from the plain letter, so use plain text for words you want people to find.

Is my text saved?

No. Everything happens in your browser, and the page does not upload or store what you type.
